Pemphero The Prayer, now in Chichewa

The Prayer has been translated into Chichewa, the language spoken across Malawi, so the same thirty mornings of scripture, reflection, and prayer can reach readers in their own language. It was created in partnership with a ministry in Malawi — a free gift, shared rather than sold.

Pemphero: Dzuka ndi Yesu — the Chichewa edition of The Prayer, showing a woman overlooking the green hills of Malawi at dawn with a dove above.

The outreach

A book that travels to meet its readers

We work with a ministry in Malawi, and together we set out to do something simple: put this book into the hands of people who could read it in their own language. So we translated The Prayer into Chichewa, the language spoken across the country, keeping the same thirty mornings of scripture, reflection, and prayer intact.

Then we did more than post a file online. We ship free physical books to Malawi and place them into people’s hands. The first copies have already reached readers there in person — not mailed to a warehouse, but carried and given, one by one, through the ministry we partner with.

This is possible because the paid editions carry it. Every cent of the royalties from the books we sell helps fund the outreach — the translation, the printing, and the copies delivered across Malawi. When someone buys the English or Portuguese edition, they are quietly helping a reader in Malawi open Pemphero for the first time.

“This is what it looks like when the book arrives.”

Clips sent straight from the ground — a reader holding his copy of The Prayer, reading the morning aloud in his own voice, and an elder sharing what it means to him out in the fields. This is the whole point of the ministry: the book, in real hands, one day at a time.
